Update: I was able to get things working in the Audio MIDI setup of the MacBook by creating an Aggregate Device that uses both inputs and outputs of the mixer. Reason shows the Alesis mixer as an output device, but shows no active input channels. It is a class-compliant USB audio device and there's really no drivers to speak of.
